General Dentist – Practice Limited to Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry

Dr Bilal Paracha completed his dental degree at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University in 2016. He is a general dentist, but his practice is primarily focused on oral surgery, and implant dentistry.

He is a strong believer in lifelong learning & regularly continues his training in advanced dental procedures. He has successfully treated thousands of patients suffering from dental anxieties or phobias, holding a visiting member authorization for Iv Moderate Sedation. He has significant experience in complex oral surgery procedures including but not limited to: complicated extractions, impacted wisdom teeth, bone grafting, and the replacement of missing teeth using dental implants. He often incorporates PRP/PRF into his practice, which allows for better case outcomes and allows for a faster recovery and less pain after surgical procedures.

Outside of dentistry, he loves to travel the world & learn about different cultures, food & history. He is also an avid sports enthusiast & a die-hard Toronto Raptors, Blue Jays & Maple Leaf’s fan. He is excited to provide dentistry to the local community and look forward to serving the Hanover community and the surrounding Grey-Bruce area!

DDS, Cert. Pedo

Coming to the dentist for kids (and yes, even for adults too) is no easy task! Everyone at Hanover Dental Sedation shares a similar goal: to create a “kid-friendly” environment where families feel welcome, and receive care that is unique to their childs’ needs. I try to treat everyone as if I am treating my own son or daughter. Through my appointments, I encourage communication – whether it’s through welcoming questions, singing songs to the “little” ones, educating families on how to prevent cavities, or explaining the steps of a procedure – I find that children pick up on the positive vibes and thrive in these kinds of environments. My approach during care is to give children a sense of control, and to motivate children to take care of their own dental health to prevent problems as they get older. I look forward to seeing you in the clinic where we can share some stories, give “high-fives”, and most importantly, make coming to the dentist a rewarding experience!

Personal Life

I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and love all things sports, especially the Leafs Blue Jays, Raptors, and Buffalo Bills. I was recently living in Rochester, New York completing my specialty training and working in private practice for a year after graduation. My wife and I recently welcomed identical twin boys into the world. It’s been an exciting, and busy time to say the least! As a family, we enjoy the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and settling into our new home in the Aurora/Newmarket area.

Dr. Aadil Shamji

Dr. Aadil Shamji

Dr. Aadil Shamji was born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario. He attended Western University in London, Ontario where he graduated on the Dean’s list with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree. He was then accepted to the Boston University School of Dental Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2013. After completing his dental degree, Aadil completed an optional 1-year residency program at Western University specializing in hospital based dentistry. Here, he received extensive experience in emergency treatment, caring for the medically compromised and those with special needs, as well as the use of sedation. He holds a certificate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, is a member of the Ontario Dental Association, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Waterloo-Wellington Dental Society as well as the Toronto Crown and Bridge Study Club to keep up to date with the newest techniques and technology.

Aadil married his beautiful wife in 2013 whom he met while attending Western University in 2005. They have two beautiful boys together who keep them very busy! When he is not at the office or at home with his family, you can be sure he is either playing or watching sports! His favourites include tennis, squash, golf and hockey. Playing baseball for the City of Waterloo growing up, he earned 2 Ontario Baseball Association Championships. Aside from sports, he has strong aspirations of travelling abroad to establish more sustainable dental care in underserved communities.

While Aadil enjoys practicing a broad range of procedures, he particularly loves working with children. He discovered this passion for children while rotating at a pediatric dental facility in Fort Myers, Florida during his dental education. Aadil is excited to be working at Hanover Dental Sedation and looks forward to brightening smiles in Hanover!

Joanne Murphy RN

Joanne Murphy RN

Sedation Nurse, Certified Anaesthetic Assistant

My career began at Toronto General Hospital, (UHN) as a pre-operative nurse in cardiothoracic surgery, working in lung and heart transplantation. This experience led me to a lifelong interest in anesthesia and the part it plays in all aspects of surgical and non-surgical procedures.

The Bruce Grey area lured me north to a handsome man, where I continued working in the operating room and emergency departments of a local hospital for almost 25 years. This environment gave me the opportunity to assist doctors in providing safe anesthetic care for people ages 2 to 92.

Receiving an anesthetic or sedation can at times be filled with anxiety and the fear of the unknown. Rest assured at Hanover Dental Sedation our main priority is your or your family members’ safety and comfort. Our goal is for you to be well-informed and relaxed for the experience.

In my leisure time, I enjoy being with my family, traveling, and writing the next great Canadian novel, not necessarily in that order.

It is a privilege to work with this amazing team of doctors, nurses, and assistants. We will care for you or your family member like they were one of our own. I look forward to meeting you or your family if you choose Hanover Dental Sedation.

Annette

Manager

Hi!, my name is Annette. I graduated from Dental Assisting so long ago they didn’t have the level I and level II titles, I won’t tell you the year for fear of aging myself. I come with an exceptional amount of dental experience, my roles have included: assisting, reception, treatment coordinator and manager. I was thrilled to join the team in Hanover as manager in February of 2024 and am so excited to be a part of the sedation aspect of dentistry and this team. I thrive off challenge and helping patients obtain optimal oral health and beautiful smiles all while preventing anxiety in a welcoming, relaxing environment. Working with people and developing good relationships is a key focus in my personal and professional goals.

Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy a variety of physical activities including working out at the local gym, pickleball, hiking, kayaking, and riding my motorcycle with my life partner.

Our Approach

A Team Built Around Your Comfort

The people looking after you matter as much as the treatment itself. Our team is made up of dentists and dental staff who are used to working with anxious and complex-care patients, along with the clinical support that safe sedation calls for. From the first phone call through your recovery, we want you to feel listened to and well cared for.

Looking after sedation and anesthesia patients takes a team. Our dentists plan and carry out your treatment, and our clinical team helps with monitoring and patient care throughout, so more than one trained person is watching over you during the procedure. Sharing the work that way is a big part of how we keep your care attentive from the time you check in until you head home.

What to Expect

Meeting Our Team

When you arrive, we take the time to get to know you and understand what makes dental visits difficult for you. We review your medical history together, answer your questions, and explain your options in plain language before any treatment is planned. There is no rush — feeling comfortable with your care team is part of the process.

We are proud to serve patients from Hanover and the surrounding Grey-Bruce community, and we welcome both new patients and referrals from other dental offices. If you would like to meet our team and talk about how sedation could help you or your family, we would be glad to hear from you. Reach us at (226) 257-8888 or use the online booking form, and we will help you take the next step.

Do I need a referral to become a patient?

No referral is needed for routine and general dentistry or to ask about sedation — you are welcome to contact us directly. We also accept referrals from other dental offices for patients who need sedation or anesthesia for their treatment.

How do I book a consultation?

You can call us at (226) 257-8888 or use our online booking form. We will arrange a consultation where you can meet the team, review your health history, and discuss whether sedation is right for you.

Safety and Training

Our Commitment to Safe, Supervised Care

Sedation and anesthesia call for careful training and a team that works well together. Our dentists are trained in administering the levels of sedation we offer, and our clinical team supports patient monitoring throughout treatment. Having more than one trained person present during a procedure is central to how we keep your care attentive and well-supervised.

Clinical skill matters, but so does listening. We take the time to understand what worries each patient and what's in their history, because the more we know, the safer and better the care we can give. Trained people, clear protocols, and real attention to the person in the chair — that's what we're going for at every visit.

Who monitors me during sedation?

A qualified team is responsible for your care during sedation, with continuous monitoring of your comfort and vital signs. Your dentist will explain who will be present and how you will be looked after during your specific procedure.

What makes your practice different for anxious patients?

Comfort and sedation are what our practice is built around, not an afterthought tacked onto general dentistry. That shows up in a team used to nervous patients, appointments with time set aside to talk things through, and several sedation options to choose from. If anxiety has made the dentist hard for you, this is the kind of place set up with that in mind.

Can the whole family be seen here?

Yes. We care for patients of different ages, from children who need sleep dentistry to adults seeking routine or sedation-supported treatment. If you are looking for a practice that can support your family's dental needs with comfort in mind, we would be glad to welcome you.
